Applying Primary Prevention Strategies

Now that you have learned about the Six Primary Prevention Strategies, we hope that you will take advantage of the opportunities red ribbon offers to really make a difference. We are confident that if you include Primary Prevention Strategies in the development of each of your Red Ribbon activities, you will improve even the simplest activities. The result will be a more meaningful program for everyone involved - especially your students!

Remember, the most successful Red Ribbon Celebration is one that opens the doors of Communication between students and teachers, children and parents, youth and police, as well as students and the professionals who are committed to serving their needs.

Be sure to maintain solid and consistent prevention efforts. As your school's Prevention Coordinator, your ultimate goal should be to implement follow up activities all year long.
